- ➤ The community gathered at Weadock Park to honor longtime educator Kevin Rooker, who passed away last week after battling prostate cancer. - ➤ Township officials are reviewing plans to add a Dunkin’ to the State Street Kroger at Green Acres Plaza as part of a $250,000 remodel that builds a kiosk by the floral section and modifies the deli area (approval is expected in about a week). Construction details remain pending. MLive

- ➤ Charges against Hill’s Tavern owners were dismissed today after a judge ruled the redemption games were legal + the Red Horse case now proceeds to the Michigan Court of Appeals while both bars remain open after removing the contested machines. ABC 12
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Saginaw Public Schools will interview candidates for a new board seat at the district headquarters (550 Millard) on Monday, Jan. 26 following board secretary Kevin Rooker's death on Jan. 1. Applications close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14. MLive
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Michigan communities including cities, health departments and nonprofits can bring Rx Kids, a cash prescription program that provides $1,500 during pregnancy plus $500 per month for baby care, to local families by applying before Feb. 14; applicants must show need, match funding and outreach commitment. - ➤ Michigan State University's Rx Kids program expands to Saginaw, Bridgeport and Buena Vista to offer cash prescriptions for eligible moms and babies. Enrollment begins at 9 a.m. on Jan. 12 for expectant mothers who are 16-week pregnant or delivered after Jan. 1. ABC 12
