- ➤ The Court Street Theater reopens on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. with the Saginaw Choral Society presenting a jukebox musical tribute to 1960s and 1970s hits, inviting audiences to dress in vintage style and enjoy popcorn and a cash bar. WNEM
- ➤ Local mixed-media artist Lark Allen III is presenting Memes of African American Postmodernism with African-inspired artifacts made from recycled materials—offering fresh local art. - ➤ A Saginaw County judge approved a recall petition by district parent Megan Nobis targeting board president Amy Morales after reversing a previous decision on Tuesday, Jan. 20. Nobis can now collect 1,478 signatures within 180 days to place the petition on a future ballot. MLive
- ➤ State data for 2018 high school graduates showed that Frankenmuth School District led with 57% earning four-year degrees in Genesee, Saginaw (and Bay counties) while Westwood Heights Schools had only 1.5%; the report also noted that higher incomes and women were linked to higher degree rates. - ➤ The American Red Cross declared a severe blood shortage and is asking local residents for donations to boost supplies (donation centers are accepting walk-ins daily). WNEM
- ➤ A poll from University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children's Hospital shows 47% of parents say children should never swear and a quarter report their kids use bad language sometimes (co-director Sarah Clark noted teens use profanity to fit in while younger children do it for fun). ABC 12
