- ➤ Saginaw Children's Zoo euthanized its 34-year-old emu Penelope after hip arthritis made him unable to stand. The zoo said the beloved animal brightened visitor days and left a lasting memory in the community. ABC 12

- ➤ The Essexville-Hampton Public Schools Board of Education appointed James Potts by unanimous vote on Wednesday, March 4. Potts was the sole applicant to fill the vacancy created by Gary Gordon’s death on Feb. 13 and now leads the Robo Alliance Parent Group for the school’s robotics teams. MLive
- ➤ Melissa Johnson, a Louisiana educator with STEM expertise, is set to lead early childhood programs for Saginaw ISD, overseeing learning for over 2,000 preschoolers. She will begin her new role April 6 at the district office on Barnard Road. MLive
