  • Every cat at Saginaw County Animal Care & Control (SCACC) was adopted over the weekend during the St. Patrick’s Day pet adoption event. Officials said the event gave each cat the chance to find a loving new home.  WNEM
  • The Cathedral of Faith Church is launching a male mentorship program (The Forge) at its Flint and Saginaw campuses to offer guidance to young men in the community.  ABC 12

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A large tree fell on a Saginaw woman's house Saturday and city inspectors ordered an emergency demolition because the house posed a danger to nearby homes—community members later searched through the debris to recover family treasures.  ABC 12

CRIME NEWS

  • Two Saginaw City officials—a council member and a council candidate—were charged with conspiracy, election law forgery and other felonies after surveillance video showed the council member allegedly falsifying petition signatures on July 23 at city hall, and the case was forwarded to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office with a pretrial date pending.  WSGW

  • Saginaw United High School welcomed its first senior class when Michael Baldwin and Torrion TJ Stevenson joined after the district merged two longtime rivals and quickly made their mark with Stevenson voted homecoming king and Baldwin winning the first state wrestling title—showing a strong start for the new school.  MLive

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Saturday, the Tri-City Chapter of Links Incorporated held a Black Family Wellness Expo at the Neighb in Saginaw. The expo gave families key information on maternal health, breast and prostate cancer awareness, mental health and caregiver resources—supporting residents in the Great Lakes Bay Region.  ABC 12

  • Saginaw Spirit forward Michael Misa, 18, has been compared to NHL legends — he broke records and helped win last year's Memorial Cup — and will play three regular season games before the playoffs as he eyes a top pick in the NHL Draft on June 27.  MLive
