- ➤ A Saginaw parole absconder with over 20 burglary convictions was charged with attempting to break into the Short Stop Depot Market — located at 6055 Tittabawassee Road in Saginaw Township on Dec. 13. MLive

- ➤ Jordan Dice (owner of Midland Mall, St. Laurent Brothers, and the State Theatre) announced his purchase of Saginaw’s Court Street Theater after a judge approved the deal on March 24 (posted on Facebook March 25), and he said he will reopen it later this year. WNEM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At a board meeting on Monday, the STARS board approved cost-saving measures to address a $658,000 budget shortfall by eliminating fixed route service from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and raising fares to $1.50 for the general public, $0.75 for seniors and disabled riders, and $3 for lift passengers—measures that are estimated to save about $800,000. Public comment will be accepted over the coming months before final plans are set in July and the changes go into effect in September. WSGW
