  • Nearly two million Consumers Energy customers will face higher electric bills starting May 1 as regulators approved a $276 million rate hike to fund grid reliability improvements — a typical residential bill will rise by about $6.46.  WSGW

  • House Speaker Matt Hall has urged Gov. Whitmer to opt Michigan into a new federal program to boost student literacy. The call aims to strengthen local schools & improve learning opportunities.  WNEM

  • The Saginaw Planning Commission approved renaming Weadock Park as Weadock-Rooker Park to honor both the city’s first mayor and the late preservationist Kevin Mark Rooker. The city council will consider the proposal at Monday, April 13 at Andersen Enrichment Center in Saginaw.  MLive

  • The Bay County Sports Hall of Fame announced its 2026 ballot featuring 17 local nominees from 10 sports spanning seven decades, with over 700 Lifetime Voting Members set to receive ballots by April 1 and a banquet induction scheduled for Nov. 8 at the DoubleTree hotel and conference center.  MLive
