GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A section of I-75 in Saginaw County was dedicated in memory of trooper Joel E. Popp after he was struck and killed by a vehicle in January 2024—his memorial highway signs were unveiled at the MSP Tri-City Post on Wednesday. The signs will be placed in the next few days.  WSGW
  • Today, MDOT is executing rolling slowdowns and full closures lasting 15 minutes on I-675 near Saginaw between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for overhead utility work delayed by rain storms and high winds—state police will control traffic while crews work and delays remain weather dependent.  MLive

  • Derf’s Deli in the SVRC Marketplace on S. Washington Ave serves New York-style sandwiches including an Empire Stack with three kinds of meat plus a unique chili made with ground turkey and dried cranberries.   • Coach Kevin Marshall ended his eight-season tenure with the Bridgeport Bearcats after winning four 20-win seasons, four district titles (including four regional titles and four Tri-Valley Conference championships) in a win over Bay City John Glenn today.
