  • Lee Township will host a carnival on April 12 from Noon to 4 p.m. to raise money for park improvements that will make the area more accessible.  ABC 12

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department said two teen boys riding ATVs ran through a stop sign at the intersection of Fenmore and Colvin roads in Marion Township last Friday, and the 17-year-old was hit by a semi truck around 4:15 p.m. and pronounced dead—no one else was hurt.  WSGW

CRIME NEWS

  • Eliza Vega, a 27-year-old traveling nurse's assistant from California, was fatally shot inside a house in the 1400 block of Cypress Street on the West Side of Saginaw early on April 5—police have not yet arrested any suspects.  MLive
  • Saginaw police said 27-year-old traveling certified nurse's assistant Eliza Vega from California was fatally shot inside a Cypress Street home in the early morning hours of Saturday—no suspects are in custody and anyone with information is urged to contact police.  ABC 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, April 7, Travis Hare, Saginaw’s city engineer, detailed six major road projects that will update South Wheeler, Hess Avenue, Adams and Cass streets, and the Court Street Bridge — with crews scheduling closures and work through October. The projects are funded by federal, state Act 51, and local resources — and some sections will reopen after careful reconstruction and maintenance in the coming months.  MLive

  • Hemlock opened its season Tuesday with a Tri-Valley sweep of Carrollton by defeating the Cavaliers 20 to 3 and 10 to 2 (the team aims to build on a strong Division 3 final run last year).  MLive
  • Ten top local high school baseball players will return for the 2025 season as teams prepare for conference, district and regional titles—some players may reach the state finals on June 14 at Michigan State University.
