CRIME NEWS

  • Rickie D. Glenn changed his account in court after first telling detectives his 60-year-old brother confessed to killing his wife Domonique C. Watson—his emotional testimony on Wednesday, April 9th, showed that he could not remember details of their conversation as his brother now faces charges of murder and felony firearm.  MLive
  • Saginaw police are investigating the fatal shooting of 27 year old Eliza Vega, who was found dead on April 5 in a home on the 1400 block of Cypress Street with no suspects in custody, and authorities ask anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.  WSGW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Saginaw’s Engineering Division announced a new plan called Safe Streets to make roads safer in the city. The plan will use community input (through a survey and online mapping tool) and a federal grant to decide which projects need work later.  WSGW

SPORTS NEWS

  • Saginaw-area softball players are gearing up for a competitive 2025 season as they build on last year’s success and aim to compete in conference, district, regional and state championships. The state finals will be held on Saturday, June 14 at Michigan State University.  MLive
  • The Saginaw Soul, a new pro basketball team in the Basketball Super League led by owner Kelly Gerity & coach Isiah Thomas, will begin their first season in November to bring professional basketball back to Saginaw.  MLive
  • Millington senior Reese Gohsman— a record-breaker—received 7,932 fan votes to earn the Saginaw-area girls basketball Player of the Year award and a spot on the Dream Team, edging out Heritage freshman Jayla Laster.  MLive
  • Local fans selected Hemlock senior Chad Brown as the Boys Basketball Player of the Year after he received double the votes of his closest rival + his strong play has made him a promising asset for the team.  MLive
