  • The Old Town Vault Interiors & Antiques in Saginaw is closing today after more than two decades of service, as longtime owner Louise Hinton passes the torch—ending her tenure at the historic shop—and closing a cherished local landmark.  WNEM

CRIME NEWS

  • A 4-year-old girl was shot late Thursday at a residence on Saginaw's east side and taken by ambulance to a hospital where her condition remained stable—police are investigating the incident.  ABC 12
  • Police arrested 24-year-old Cameron Michaud, a student athlete at Saginaw Valley State University, on Wednesday at the Ryder center after he allegedly stole items including Detroit Lions jerseys, tablets, monitors and a vacuum from local stores to sell on Facebook Marketplace; he now faces a charge of second degree retail fraud with a $2,500 bond.  WSGW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Atherton High School's FIRST Robotics team, Symmetrical Chaos 5660, qualified for the World Championships in Houston after a tough weekend competition and now needs to raise $16,000 with $8,500 already raised to cover travel, lodging, and fees — they have less than a week to secure the remaining funds while a teacher leads a community fundraising drive and the Flint Firebirds support the effort with merchandise sales. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Michigan Supreme Court denied the Heron Cove Association's appeal on April 11th—forcing residents to pay part of the special assessment for repairing the Secord, Smallwood, Sanford, and Edenville dams damaged by the 2020 flood. The decision upholds earlier rulings and means counties will soon work to secure funds and continue construction.  MLive
