  • The Saginaw County Community Action Committee is marking its 60th Anniversary by asking residents to share stories that show how its work has impacted lives. Executive Director Hurley Coleman III said the call for memories will honor 60 years of service—inviting past participants, volunteers, and supporters to share their important moments.  Mid-Michigan NOW

  • Federal investigators from ATF are assisting Bridgeport Fire Chief Dave Smigiel in probing a Saturday morning fire that rapidly destroyed the former Candlelite Bowling Alley — a longtime community venue now targeted by looters with plans to install a security fence.  ABC 12
  • Crews are clearing spilled corn from a Saginaw Township road near West Michigan Avenue and River Forest Drive after six freight cars derailed on April 24—no injuries or hazardous materials were reported and cleanup may finish as early as tonight.  MLive

CRIME NEWS

  • A Saginaw man, 33-year-old Devaughntae Q. Woods, was charged with fleeing police and spitting on an officer after a 30-minute high-speed chase that ended with two crashes and minor injuries to two occupants—he now faces third-degree fleeing and assault charges as a fourth-time habitual offender with a $3,500 bond and a potential life sentence.  MLive
  • A Buena Vista Township grandfather pleaded guilty in court for accidentally shooting his special-needs granddaughter on Nov. 29 when he mistook her for a burglar—he forfeited his .44 handgun and got one year of probation and $1,000 in fees—while she recovered after emergency surgeries.  MLive
  • A 21-year-old man was accused of stabbing his 29-year-old brother on Sunday night in a home on the 1800 block of Carol Drive in Hampton Township, where residents barricaded the house, police said — the victim was taken to Covenant Healthcare for treatment while the suspect allegedly smashed a window, sliced his arms, returned covered in blood with a makeshift tourniquet, was treated at McLaren Bay Region Hospital, and now awaits formal charges in Bay County Jail.  WSGW
  • A 28-year-old man remains in critical condition after being shot during an altercation at a Family Dollar at Clio Road and Stewart Avenue in Mt. Morris Township last Friday—police arrested a 20-year-old clerk who was charged with resisting police and weapons offenses and later released on $900 bond.  ABC 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against Express Scripts Inc. and Prime Therapeutics LLC for anticompetitive practices—these practices forced independent pharmacies to lower prescription payments and led to pharmacy deserts in parts of Detroit and northern Michigan. The suit claims the deal, which began in December 2019, broke antitrust and public nuisance laws and left many residents driving long distances for essential medications.  WNEM
  • Michigan AG Dana Nessel filed a lawsuit against Roku for allegedly breaking COPPA and the Michigan Consumer Protection Act by allowing third party access to children’s data without parental consent — she seeks to stop these practices and recover damages.  Mid-Michigan NOW
  • The Michigan Secretary of State Office is hosting a Road to Restoration Clinic today in Saginaw — the event offers local residents a chance to restore their vital records.  WNEM
