- ➤ The Crooked Creek Bowling Center will host the 4th annual Bowling for Paws fundraiser tomorrow with family bowling at noon and adult bowling at 6 p.m. to raise funds for retired police K9s and honor former partner Canjo (retired in 2019 and passed in 2022) while supporting a proposed measure (Canjo’s Law) to allow emergency transport for retired K9s, according to former handler Doug Stacer. - ➤ Steven Yntema, a 65-year-old Saginaw resident, was arrested in Indiana after an April 19 traffic stop in DeKalb County uncovered suspected cocaine, a firearm and drug paraphernalia — he faces a Level 5 felony charge and two misdemeanor counts. WNEM

- ➤ Saginaw hosts its 46th annual Cinco De Mayo Parade and Festival today starting with a parade at 10:30 a.m. from Hoyt Park featuring local businesses, community groups, marching bands and dance groups. The celebration continues at Jolt Credit Union Event Park until 5 p.m.—a Tejano concert with Siggno and Los Palominos will follow at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort. WSGW

- ➤ The Swan Valley School Board selected Alison Cicinelli as the new superintendent—she has been the assistant superintendent since July and will replace retiring Mat McRae this summer. ABC 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting Monday, May 5, two lanes of westbound M-58 in Saginaw will close from Avalon Avenue to M-84 (Bay Street) to allow MDOT to install pavement markings that convert it into a two-way road with a temporary center turn lane. The work is part of a $13 million project that will rebuild 1.1 miles of eastbound M-58 and upgrade city sewers and water mains. WNEM
- ➤ Saginaw City Hall said crews will finish constructing a 160-foot water storage tank with a 3-million-gallon capacity by late December to help keep water pressure steady during outages—funding includes a $15 million state grant and an extra $3.1 million from the city water fund. MLive
