  • Rising gas prices are pushing vendors at the World Expo of Beer to rethink their summer plans — many are adjusting menus and operations to manage higher fuel costs. The change is expected to influence how they serve eventgoers throughout the season.  WNEM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Saginaw United High School honored 84 seniors at its convocation on Thursday, May 14, awarding over $233,000 in scholarships and recognizing top academic performers including valedictorian Ahnyala Eichelberger and salutatorian Tierra Pringle; principal Eric Gordon—celebrating community support—led the ceremony with awards from local organizations.  MLive

HEALTH NEWS

  • Saginaw Intermediate School District and the Health Department opened a community clinic inside Jerome Green STEM Preschool on Thursday, May 14 to bring nutrition and health services to families. The redesigned space features a secure entrance and hosted an open house for local residents.  MLive
  • Saginaw Valley State University is set to host a rehabilitative stroke camp for stroke survivors and occupational therapy students at Bachand Hall on Bay Road this summer — sessions run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. during June 29-July 2 and July 7-10 with room for 15 participants.  WNEM

  • The Great Lakes Loons beat the West Michigan Whitecaps 9-3 Friday night at Dow Diamond in Midland (Eduardo Guerrero had three hits and four RBI) and will seek a fourth straight win today at 6:35 p.m.  ABC 12
  • Chesaning junior Law Danek earned the Saginaw Athlete of the Week honor after setting personal records at the Nugent Invitational and he will race today in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 relay at the track regional in Chesaning.  MLive
