- ➤ The annual Frankenmuth Dog Bowl festival will be held May 24-25 at Frankenmuth River Place Shops and surrounding fields as more than 25 free events give dog lovers a fun weekend with competitions and parades—registration for the Wiener Dog Races begins at 4 p.m. with races starting at 5 p.m. on both days. - ➤ Strong winds and falling trees damaged homes and power lines in Saginaw County on Friday, as trees crashed through roofs in the Village of Saint Charles—leaving thousands without power from Consumers Energy and DTE Energy while the National Weather Service issued tornado warnings. WNEM
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 16-year-old Saginaw teen, Vincent M. Barrera, is charged with murder for fatally shooting 20-year-old Taylor M. Burton outside an elementary school on Feb. 9, with surveillance footage capturing the incident. He was arraigned on May 15 before Judge Terry L. Clark with a $750,000 cash bond set and his case is scheduled for a preliminary examination on June 2 — prosecutors say the charges arose after arranging a meeting via Snapchat. MLive
- ➤ Police responded to a shooting on Veterans Memorial Parkway and Lapeer Avenue last weekend that left a 66-year-old driver in the hospital after his car crashed into trees — no arrests have been made. ABC 12

- ➤ The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Detroit will spend over $17.5 million on dredging and repairs at five Mid-Michigan harbors along the Lake Huron shoreline, including Caseville, Lexington, Port Sanilac, Saginaw River and Sebewaing River. These projects will take place this summer & support future harbor safety and infrastructure improvements as part of a larger $290 million effort across the western Great Lakes. ABC 12
