- ➤ On Monday, local officials and residents marked the five-year anniversary of the Edenville Dam failure that caused widespread flooding, forced evacuations, and $250 million in damage along the Tittabawassee River — legal actions and investigations against dam owner Boyce Hydro are still ongoing. - ➤ Police say a 66-year-old man was shot while driving south on Veterans Memorial Parkway near Lapeer Avenue Sunday, crashing his car into trees—he is now in stable condition at a local hospital. WSGW
- ➤ Saginaw police said on May 16 that a woman escaped after enduring hours of alleged abuse by her boyfriend who confined her at their South 10th Street home and attacked her with biting, choking and kitchen utensils, and he was arrested and arraigned on charges of assault and unlawful imprisonment with a preliminary examination set for June 2. - ➤ Saginaw Valley State University received the Voter Friendly Campus designation for the (2025-2026) cycle after its Cardinals Vote program registered students and taught them about voting in the 2024 cycle, and it is one of 272 colleges recognized for lowering voter barriers. WSGW

- ➤ After historic rains and dam failures in May 2020 caused flash floods that forced over 10,000 evacuations and damaged homes in mid-Michigan, local officials say recovery efforts are still underway—dam upgrade work will resume this summer with major projects to finish by next spring and Edenville upgrades expected in the fall—and residents continue to rebuild their lives.
