- ➤ The Michigan Department of Education is asking lawmakers to put the free school meals program into state law so school districts can plan ahead without annual funding worries. The change comes as more students enjoy free breakfast and lunch, with participation rates rising recently. WNEM

- ➤ Michigan Secretary of State will host a Road to Restoration clinic in Saginaw on May 28 at Saginaw SVRC Marketplace — eligible drivers can attend scheduled appointments from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or walk in from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for vision testing, a written exam and consultations. MLive
- ➤ Governor Whitmer has ordered the U.S. & Michigan flags to be lowered on Memorial Day at all state buildings and public grounds from sunrise until noon to honor fallen service members; flags will return to full staff at noon. Mid-Michigan NOW
- ➤ The Michigan State Police Emergency Management division is accepting applications for a safe room rebate program that may reimburse up to $7,131.75 for eligible installations—Michigan homeowners must complete installation and documentation to qualify, with 50 primary and 100 alternate selections pending available funding.
