- ➤ The 35th Catch Me If You Can fishing festival will be held on June 7 at William H. Haithco Recreation Area in Saginaw during the MDNR free fishing weekend, allowing both adults and children to participate. The contest will run from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. — on-site registration is available until 9:00 a.m. and trophies will be awarded for the largest and most legal-sized fish. Mid-Michigan NOW

- ➤ Saginaw police broke up a large block party on May 25 and arrested a 24-year-old man for outstanding warrants—recovering a stolen 9mm handgun from his vehicle after noise complaints led officers to pursue him. MLive
- ➤ Police are offering up to $1,000 for tips leading to the arrest of Bay Ahshon Gurd (42, 5'9", 180 pounds) who is wanted on felony warrants for drugs and probation violation and may be armed, and they warn against trying to apprehend him directly. WSGW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MDOT said work on the Zilwaukee Bridge is on schedule as the southbound lanes will reopen on June 27 ahead of the July Fourth break—maintenance will then shift to the northbound lanes with work expected to finish by November. MDOT will update detour details for Labor Day when the project advances further. WNEM
- ➤ Drivers on I-75 in Genesee County should expect lane closures for concrete repairs by MDOT starting next week, with work planned between M-57 and the Saginaw County line from Sunday, June 1 to Sunday, June 8. Traffic will be maintained with single-lane and shoulder closures—so plan for possible delays. MLive
