- ➤ Strong winds complicated firefighters' efforts as they battled an intense blaze at Auburn Greenhouses on Wheeler Road north of Auburn on Thursday morning; all occupants evacuated safely and crews cleared the scene by 4:00 p.m. with the cause still under investigation. WSGW

- ➤ Retired deputy Rossano Rea and Marine reserve officer Chris Karwacki launched a College HUNKS Hauling Junk and Moving franchise to serve Saginaw and Midland counties on May 20. Based at 1518 Bayliss St. in Midland, the business helps ease moves and supports charities (donating meals per job and recycling items). MLive
- ➤ A fire on Thursday, May 28 at The Auburn Greenhouses on Wheeler Road forced the nursery to close for the 2026 season — firefighters arrived around 10:30 a.m. and no injuries were reported. MLive
