- ➤ Saginaw County Parks and Recreation will host the 37th Catch Me If You Can Fishing Festival on Saturday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at William H. Haithco Recreation Area (2121 Schust in Saginaw Township) where 150 kids who register first get a free fishing pole. MLive

- ➤ Jeanette Voelker celebrated 50 years at Macy's at G's Pizzeria with family, colleagues + friends and will retire on June 5; she will return on July 15 for her final ring-ups with her sons. ABC 12
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Spring Lake sophomore Ben Goran won the Division 2 boys track and field state title on Saturday, May 30 in Hamilton by clearing 15-ft 1-in and securing his first state crown. He will compete on Friday, June 5 at Davison High School as he aims to clear 16-ft 9.5-in to qualify for nationals. MLive
- ➤ Swan Valley won a nail-biting 2-1 Division 2 district championship Saturday when Jaxon Hartley struck out the final batter against Owosso. They will play in a regional semifinal at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Bay City John Glenn. MLive
- ➤ Bay City area high school softball teams delivered big wins in the district tournament. Standish beat Pinconning 16-6 to earn its seventh consecutive Division 3 title and will advance to regional play next weekend at home while local teams including All Saints and USA showcased strong plays during the round.
