ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Police from the Bay County Sheriff’s Department Marien Patrol rescued two men from a sinking pontoon boat nearly two miles off shore in Hampton Township at 8:45 a.m.; one man in a wheelchair was taken to McLaren Bay Region Hospital after being brought to the Bangor Township boat launch & assistance came from the U.S. Coast Guard, Bangor Township Fire Department, & Medstar Ambulance. - ➤ A robbery at Dollar General in Buena Vista Township led to the arrest of 32-year-old Nicole Woods who threatened workers with a butcher knife and took items worth less than $100 before police chased her near Cumberland and Hess — she is now held in Saginaw County Jail with a $25,000 bond and faces a court date on June 27. - ➤ Tony Serra, a Saginaw native with experience at Detroit's Fox Theatre, will return in August to lead TempleArts and manage both the Temple Theatre and Saginaw Art Museum—succeeding Mike Kolleth after six years. MLive
- ➤ Local artist Sherell Chillik shared her work and personal story on ABC 12 News on June 12, saying her art is inspired by family history and historical figures — a theme that continues to shape her creative approach. ABC 12
- ➤ Local families can join a free two-hour boat tour of the Saginaw River from Wenonah Park in Bay City starting in July — the guided cruise shares stories of shipbuilding and local maritime history. Guests must reserve tickets online with only four spots per household and arrive by 9:30 a.m. for a safety briefing before the 10:00 a.m. departure — reservations open according to each tour schedule.
