BUSINESS NEWS

  • Chick-fil-A is planning to open a new restaurant at the former Kmart site on 4001 N. Euclid Ave in Bangor Township, pending resolution of entrance and traffic concerns. The company said it hopes to begin construction in April 2026—adding between 80 and 120 new jobs.  MLive

CRIME NEWS

  • On March 7, in Buena Vista Township, a man was critically wounded from multiple gunshot wounds and a severed artery during an attempted marijuana robbery, and two teens have been charged as adults—one remains at large.  MLive
  • A 33-year-old Saginaw man was shot three times while driving on the 2000 block of River Road in Zilwaukee late Friday + police and EMS responded and took him to a nearby hospital in stable condition as detectives began investigating the incident.  ABC 12
  • A traffic stop around 12:25 a.m. early Sunday on Ezra Rust Drive led Michigan State Police to arrest four people in Saginaw after officers found a stolen pistol with a 28-year-old driver and additional stolen firearms and drugs on passengers—three of the suspects are convicted felons and one faces outstanding warrants—on charges of drugs and weapons violations.  ABC 12

CULTURE NEWS

  • Comedian Jerry Seinfeld — known for his clean, observational humor — will perform at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw at 7 p.m. on Nov. 21. Tickets go on sale online at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 27 — the venue box office is open on Thursdays and Fridays with group discounts available for parties of 10 or more — for local fans to secure their seats.  MLive

  • Sydney Kuhn—a Swan Valley graduate who won three events at the state meet—finished third in the 400-meter hurdles Friday at the New Balance Nationals at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, while Frankenmuth eighth grader Brock Raymond took sixth in the middle school 400-meter run.  MLive
  • League champion Frankenmuth led the Tri-Valley Conference Red softball all-league teams with four players chosen by coaches — all-state Chloe Compau earned first-team honors. Coaches also selected her teammates Emma Sprowl, Izzy Bernthal, and Miranda Polley for the top team.  MLive
