- ➤ Saginaw Area Fireworks is asking for volunteers to help raise a large American flag on Friday, July 4 on the Court Street Bridge. Volunteers must arrive between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.—they will receive a special Raise The Flag t-shirt and free Kona Ice treats while an 80' by 50' flag is raised at 10:00 a.m. with Diane Makl singing the National Anthem and state representative Tim Kelly leading the Pledge of Allegiance. - ➤ The One Week One Street committee hosted a block party on Maplewood Avenue—between Hess and Webber—to celebrate a community cleanup that included porch repairs, tree and flower planting, and graffiti removal. Revitalization efforts will continue daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Maplewood Avenue until Friday. ABC 12

- ➤ 45-year-old Saginaw man Michael Lee Johnson was convicted of strangling his girlfriend and committing other domestic violence crimes on the Isabella Reservation — he will serve a 30-year prison sentence. Mid-Michigan NOW
- ➤ Saginaw City Councilwoman Monique Lamar-Silvia faces felony and misdemeanor charges for allegedly forging signatures on a nominating petition while a jury will begin deliberating today at 8:30 a.m.—co-defendant Eric Eggleston faces related charges. MLive
