  • Modales Wines in Fennville became Michigan’s first fully organic winery by stopping chemical sprays in 2021 and will soon offer its first organic Vidal Blanc Es Lo Que Es produced with cover cropping—boosting natural soil health. The winery’s tasting room is open daily from noon until 7 p.m. and the vineyard produces 12,000 cases annually with plans to expand its footprint.  MLive

  • Great Lakes Bay Pride Festival held on Saturday, June 28 at Jolt Credit Union Event Park in downtown Saginaw drew thousands of attendees who enjoyed live music and vendor booths—organizers moved the event from downtown Bay City and ended the day with a $20-ticket After Party Drag Show at the Dow Event Center.  MLive

HEALTH NEWS

  • MyMichigan Health is accepting applications for its Patient and Family Advisory Councils. The program will bring together patients, family members, and health care professionals to advise on policies and improve care—prospective members must commit to a one-year term with four to six meetings annually.  ABC 12

  • Michael Misa led the CHL in scoring before the San Jose Sharks picked him with the second overall pick in the NHL Draft on Friday. His speed and skill earned him praise—marking him as one of the top young players in the draft.  MLive
  • Saginaw’s Spencer Schwellenbach, a Saginaw Heritage graduate, struck out a career-high 12 batters and allowed only three hits and one walk as he led the Atlanta Braves to a 6-1 win over the Phillies on Saturday — the victory ended a three-game losing streak.  MLive
  • Kristian Epperson was picked in the third round by the Los Angeles Kings and Jacob Cloutier was chosen in the seventh round by the Winnipeg Jets—giving the Spirit three NHL draft picks for the first time since 2019. Michael Misa became the highest overall pick when he was selected second overall by the San Jose Sharks on Friday.  MLive
  • Sarah Schmelzel — who shot a 2-under 68 Saturday in an alternate-shot format — and Albane Valenzuela lead the LPGA Dow Championship at Midland Country Club and will compete in the final best-ball round today at 9 a.m. Their strong score puts them one round away from achieving several firsts in the tournament.  MLive
