Good morning, Saginaw. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 8th of July.
COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ President Thomas Roy of Saginaw Area Fireworks responded to local criticism over this year’s continuous Fourth of July show by stating that the $150,000 raised fully funded the event — with no budget cuts — and that the change allowed longer firework time. He said the board will bring back a bigger finale — a move planned for 2026 — in response to the feedback. WNEM
- ➤ The family of fallen trooper Joel Popp had their mortgage paid off by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation after he died on January 25 while investigating an impaired driver near Birch Run. His wife Stefanie, one of 25 families chosen nationwide, said the relief will let their daughter remain in her school district (the foundation has already helped pay off over 1,000 mortgages this year).
