- ➤ Crumbl Cookies will open its first Saginaw County location in about two months at 4540 State St near Planet Fitness in Saginaw Township. Construction began recently on the 1,600-square-foot space — part of a $200,000 renovation, according to township officials. MLive
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Officials from Saginaw Intermediate School District said demolition of the burned Brunkow Preschool building in Buena Vista Township began on July 10 — the board approved the project after repair costs proved too high. The 17-acre campus will be turned into a well-kept green space and more than 140 students had already moved to other preschools after last year’s fire — select property items were saved to honor its history. - ➤ Residents in Saginaw County are facing a surge in mosquitoes after heavy rain in June with areas like St. Charles — Swan Creek — and Bridgeport experiencing the worst effects. The county has expanded its spraying efforts and urges residents to drain standing water and use repellent to protect themselves. Mid-Michigan NOW
- ➤ After a rainy Friday with near-average temperatures, Saturday is mostly dry in the morning but storms are expected to move in from the west by early afternoon—bringing heavy rain, damaging winds, and hail until about 8 p.m.; conditions should improve on Sunday with highs in the low-to-mid 80s. - ➤ City crews in Saginaw will perform emergency utility work on East Holland Avenue between South Washington Avenue and Good Street, closing all lanes from Monday, July 14 at 7 a.m. until Friday, July 18 at 4 p.m.—drivers are advised to use detours and alternative routes. WNEM
