- ➤ The Saginaw County Fair has been open since July 29 in Chesaning and runs through Aug. 2, offering rides, food, helicopter rides, and daily grandstand events. Today’s fair features a motocross event at 7 p.m.—with fireworks at 10 p.m. and shuttle rides available from downtown Saginaw. MLive
- ➤ The Saginaw County Fair is underway for its 112th year and offers new thrills—such as paid helicopter rides, outlaw motocross, evening fireworks, and barnyard auctions by children—while visitors can enjoy classic exhibits and animal displays. - ➤ Police arrested Ron'Darius D. Jones at a craps table in Soaring Eagle Casino on the night of July 29 — he is accused of deleting video evidence from a fatal shooting outside an afterhours club nearly two months ago. MLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lawmakers in Lansing discussed potential changes to the state’s Amber Alert system on Tuesday — they plan to remove strict standards so alerts can be issued faster for missing children with special needs or in danger. Advocates said the proposed bills aim to reduce delays in notifying the public. WNEM
- ➤ Saginaw council approved a sale of land for one dollar that will support a 35 million dollar development near the medical campus with a behavioral health clinic, housing and retail. The old county fairgrounds will be turned into a community park and I-75 reopened after a jackknifed semitruck caused a brief closure in a construction zone. WNEM

- ➤ Major League Fishing’s Bass Pro Tour will wrap up its 2025 season on Saginaw Bay from Aug 7-10 as 66 top anglers compete for a $150,000 prize and a share of a $6.49 million purse — the event is expected to boost local excitement.
