- ➤ Jerry Thomas— a 33-year-old motorcyclist from Thomas Township— died six days after he crashed in the Walmart parking lot along Bay Road in Kochville when he lost control while trying to pass a white sedan; the Saginaw County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate his fatal accident. ABC 12

- ➤ Rockwood police said Flock cameras caught missing Jacob Angeles' 2006 silver Jeep Commander driving north on I-75 at the I-675 ramp in Buena Vista Township—he did not return from the Renaissance Festival. ABC 12

- ➤ SASA was ranked No. 4 in the state and No. 83 nationally in the U.S. News Best High Schools list — the school has moved to a new building on Saginaw’s west side and adopted new leadership, with classes set to begin Monday, Aug. 25 — marking a fresh start for the academy. MLive

- ➤ Saginaw Bay’s shape and air pressure gap—caused by warm land and cold water—produced strong northeast winds that challenged boaters and anglers yesterday and will likely continue to stir rough conditions. The bay’s funnel-like layout speeds up the wind, making calm days on the water very rare. MLive

- ➤ Saginaw officials said today that a $50,000 federal grant will pay for masonry repairs to restore the 1929 fairgrounds gateway—part of a $671,000 project to turn the vacant site into a one-acre city park. City Hall is also reviewing a $20,000 purchase agreement to buy the property from the Housing Commission to move the redevelopment plans forward. MLive
