CULTURE NEWS

  • The Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra is hosting open auditions for violin, viola, cello, and bass positions for its 2025-26 season—auditions will be held on Friday, Sept. 26 at the Temple Theatre in downtown Saginaw. Interested applicants must submit a one-page resume to Personnel Manager Gregg Powell for further review.  MLive
  • Magician Justin Willman will perform his new tour at Temple Theatre in downtown Saginaw this fall, with tickets for his family-friendly show going on sale today at 10 a.m.—the performance on November 21 will feature new, interactive material.  MLive

EDUCATION NEWS

  • LiUNA Local 1098 donated 85 fully stocked backpacks filled with essential school supplies to students at three local elementary schools to ease families' financial burdens and support a strong academic start.  Mid-Michigan NOW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lanes on three Saginaw bridges will be closed Friday for water main inspections. The Center and Johnson Street bridges will operate with one lane per direction while the Court Street bridge is closed from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.—additional lane closures on Court Street between Trier and Bay Streets remain until 4:00 p.m.  WSGW

HEALTH NEWS

  • Shiawassee Health and Wellness will end key programs for adults with special needs by December 31—federal regulatory changes and Medicaid cuts are behind the decision, affecting 70 Medicaid recipients and 22 employees. Families are now scrambling to find new solutions to help their loved ones maintain daily skills.  ABC 12

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • This weekend, mid-Michigan will host a busy lineup — the Genesee County Fair will run through Sunday at the Everett A. Cummings Center with contests and live music, and Bayne’s Apple Valley Farm in Tittabawassee Township will open a new parking lot so locals can easily enjoy apple and cider treats. Saginaw residents can attend a Paul Walter Hauser movie marathon at Bay City Cinemas, join free outdoor concerts at Jolt Credit Union Park, and visit the Michigan Renaissance Festival for nostalgic fun.  MLive
