- ➤ City officials plan the Fall 2025 Team Up to Clean Up event on Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Public Works building—volunteers will remove litter, weed, and edge areas to revitalize neighborhoods and close with a community lunch. The event, which started in 2021, aims to boost local pride and beautify the city. MLive
- ➤ The Saginaw Community Foundation launched its Access and Opportunity Grant Program funded by a $20,000 Consumers Energy Foundation grant that will award at least four nonprofits up to $5,000 each for diversity and inclusion projects in Saginaw County—eligible nonprofits with 501c3 status must apply by Oct. 31 and winners will be notified by Dec. 1. - ➤ Team One Credit Union held a headquarters groundbreaking ceremony on Aug. 20 in Saginaw as it began construction on a 28000 square foot building that will have a retail branch, collaborative workspaces and a community room for public events. The new building, which will have three levels, is expected to be completed by late 2026—its old office will be replaced with a green space and plaza. WNEM

- ➤ A former Bay City hotel manager, Stephanie Starling, accused her CEO of sexual harassment at a Justin Timberlake concert on February 20 (at Little Caesars Arena) and said she was fired in retaliation after reporting the incident (with additional employees also alleging similar behavior) according to her attorney. - ➤ Downtown Saginaw is set for a busy fall with a variety of shows—from live music and comedy to ice performances and ballet—at the Dow Event Center and Jolt Credit Union Event Park, featuring acts such as Jerry Seinfeld on Nov. 21 and Justin Moore on Sept. 5 with tickets available online and at the box offices. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, Aug. 22, staff from Michigan State University Extension released 7,000 young lake sturgeon into the Saginaw River watershed at Midland’s Bob G. Caldwell Municipal Boat Launch—releasing fish also in the Shiawassee, Flint, and Cass Rivers. The group plans another release on Sept. 20 into the St. Clair River system to further restore the once abundant fish. WNEM
- ➤ On Aug 22, Chippewa Nature Center and Saginaw Bay Sturgeon Restoration released 137 young sturgeons into the Tittabawassee River at the Bob G. Caldwell Municipal Boat Launch—an effort to revive a population that has struggled since 2017 due to overfishing and habitat loss. MLive
- ➤ Seven thousand lake sturgeon were released into the Saginaw River system on August 22. WNEM
