- ➤ A Saginaw project named Community Food Club & Kitchen is making progress as construction and fundraising continue—needing an extra $1.5 million to cover rising costs and provide a smaller-scale grocery store for local residents in food deserts. Construction will finish in January and the store will open next spring. WNEM
- ➤ SVSU will host the 9/11 Heroes Run on Sept. 14 to honor first responders and military heroes with a 5K run and walk along a certified campus route starting at the Ryder Center parking lot. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., the remembrance ceremony is at 9:30 a.m., and registration fees range from $36 to $50 — the event benefits the Travis Manion Foundation and Great Lakes Bay Veteran Coalition. - ➤ Michigan State Police issued an endangered missing alert for 14-year-old Kimora Newell after she was reported missing from the 1000 block of Gram Street in Burton just before 8:30 p.m. Monday—police say she left a note expressing self-harm thoughts and her phone showed messages from a male, and she is described as 5'0" with black hair and brown eyes. - ➤ Police are searching for a 9 year old boy who went missing near Saginaw Street and Tuscola Road in Vienna Township — he was last seen in a white football jersey and blue jeans, and deputies advise residents not to search on foot as K9s track his location. WNEM

- ➤ Residents in Michigan may see low flying ITC helicopters this fall as utility crews inspect 9,100 miles of transmission lines starting Sept. 8 and ending early October when weather permits — the low altitude lets inspectors check for equipment damage and vegetation hazards. MLive
