  • Frankenmuth Auto Fest kicks off today and will run through Sunday—bringing a weekend of auto-themed activities to local fans.  ABC 12

  • Saginaw residents will attend the Saginaw Soup Pitch Competition at SVRC Marketplace Ballroom on Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m. to vote for a favorite small business idea (a $5 entry fee applies) as five local entrepreneurs pitch for cash prizes from $500 to $3,500.  WNEM

CRIME NEWS

  • A former Saginaw City Council candidate, Eric Eggleston, 53, was sentenced on Sept. 4 to 18 months probation and 140 hours community service—after he was found guilty of election law forgery—by forging signatures on a nominating petition to appear on the November ballot.  WNEM
  • Two 20-year-old men—one from Detroit and one local—were charged after a double-shooting and high-speed chase in Saginaw that ended when they crashed into a GM plant fence, with charges including fleeing and eluding police and resisting police causing injury, while the Detroit man faces extra assault charges and the local man is charged with carrying a concealed weapon.  MLive

  • Saginaw-area high school athletes are starting the 2025 fall sports season after strong 2024 performances. Freeland sophomore Clara Kaczor won the first mile of TVC Jamboree — finishing in 18:24.84 while Frankenmuth junior Natalie Foltz competed and is expected to build on her success this fall.  MLive
  • Carrollton’s volleyball team stays undefeated at 13-0 after beating Bridgeport with set scores of 25-5, 25-10, and 25-11, head coach Kristin Palmer said.  MLive
