- ➤ Enbridge Inc. donated $50,000 to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan to boost its expansion project and truck fleet—$25,000 will fund a project to improve access to fresh food in northern areas and $25,000 will support a fleet that travels over 500,000 miles a year. The donation strengthens partnerships with Feeding America West Michigan and more than 1,200 agencies to serve local communities. WNEM

- ➤ Wilmer Jones Ham McZee, Saginaw's first female mayor, died on September 8 as confirmed by current mayor Brenda Moore. No cause of death has been announced. WNEM

- ➤ Saginaw-area high school football players shined in Week 2 as fans can vote for the Player of the Week honor until 11 p.m. Thursday—highlighting local talent. MLive
- ➤ Greg Meter was inducted into the Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame after a standout career as a player at St. Stephen’s and Dayton and later as an assistant coach at both schools—he once defended his playing record during a timeout at Nouvel Catholic Central at Boyd Field. MLive
- ➤ Frankenmuth swept both the boys and girls small-school divisions at the Sixth Annual Northwood Invitational titles last Saturday — Brett Magnus finished second in the 2024 Saginaw County Cross Country Championships with a time of 16:06.3. MLive
