- ➤ Today, Hidden Harvest and East Side Soup Kitchen will break ground on an expansion of the Hunger Solution Center at 940 East Genesee Avenue to boost capacity and enhance safety—key steps that will help the center serve more residents. The center has provided meals and essential resources to Saginaw for 20 years. WNEM
- ➤ Saginaw business owners will join the 4th annual We Love Saginaw Businesses Trunk or Treat Event at Celebration Park on Oct. 22 from 4:30—6:30 p.m.—where they will decorate vehicles to hand out candy and promotional items to trick-or-treaters. The free event will also include a Kids Zone and Touch-a-Truck area to help strengthen local connections. WNEM
- ➤ Oktoberfest kicks off today in Frankenmuth—this marks the start of the annual celebration as local officials begin festival activities. WNEM

CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, a mural project at Saginaw's Frank N. Andersen Celebration Park turned violent when organizers asked a group to leave—resulting in three arrests, including 50-year-old lead artist DeVaughn Collins who was released the next day, a 57-year-old man, and a 30-year-old woman from Saginaw Township—and an artist who was hit in the head and eye treated at a hospital while the park remains closed through September 28. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Delta College is partnering with STARS to offer free bus rides to students, faculty, and staff starting October 1 with a valid Delta ID—covering more than 500 stops in the Saginaw area. The service connects the Delta Downtown Saginaw Center to the main campus with round-trip rides on Monday through Thursday during the fall and winter semesters and runs Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. WSGW

- ➤ The Social Security Administration will announce the 2026 COLA on Oct. 15, and the expected 2.7% boost to benefits follows last year's 2.5% increase—though many seniors worry it may not keep up with rising costs. MLive
- ➤ Saginaw Township Police announced temporary road closures ahead of Nouvel Catholic Central High School's 2025 Homecoming Parade. The parade will begin tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. from Nouvel Catholic Central Elementary School (2136 Berberovich Drive) and will follow Weiss Street westbound and Wieneke Road north. WNEM
- ➤ Motorists on M-13 in Saginaw County will face single-lane closures as MDOT begins a $2.5M resurfacing project on Sept 22, covering 8.4 miles from M-57 to Fry Road near Montrose. The work will include milling, concrete joint repairs and new pavement markings — it will finish by mid-November and support 24 jobs. MLive
