- ➤ Latasha Lawson launched The Salad Bar by Soul Food Sistas at SVRC Marketplace in May 2024 and now serves made-to-order salads + soups made with fresh ingredients and vegan options including the Kenya Special in honor of her late friend. The bar lets customers build their own salads with a variety of greens, proteins, and toppings and is open Tuesday through Saturday. MLive
- ➤ Papa Al’s Mexican American Restaurant is opening today at 4492 Richfield Road in Genesee Township in the building that once housed Wah Nam; owner Alfonso Amaya's daughters helped complete the finishing touches as the new business will serve a mix of Mexican and American dishes from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. MLive

- ➤ Former WNEM TV-5 anchor David Custer, who was let go after 11 years for speaking about the station’s inner workings, won a harassment suit on Oct. 17 — the jury awarded him about $150,000 including fees and costs. He now serves as the Executive Director of Media Relations for the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. MLive
