COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Women of Colors will host its annual Warm A Child for Winter Drive-Thru Coat Giveaway on Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Kempton Elementary School — new and gently used coats and winter accessories will be given away to families with children in their cars; traffic will be directed from Davenport Ave to Weiss St. to Blackmore St. for entry.  WNEM
  • The Frankenmuth Farmers Market will host the ChristKindlMarkt outdoor holiday marketplace — November 28–30 — outside the Harvey Kern Community Pavilion, offering artisan goods, food, and crafts for children. The event is designed to support local producers and community engagement.  MLive

  • Saint Charles Police Officer Ryan Hull rescued a woman from a burning home Sunday morning—she was safely removed from the building.  WNEM

CULTURE NEWS

  • A painting was unveiled last night for alumni of the Saginaw General School of Nursing+ the special event honored Mid-Michigan nurses for their contributions to local health care.  WNEM

  • TV5 updated the news and weather at 7:00 a.m. online and on its TV5 News App from Saginaw—reporting on bay city’s shuttered fire station, a local restaurant helping families, and key ballot items ahead of today's election.  WNEM

SPORTS NEWS

  • Saginaw Spirit owner Dick Garber was inducted into the Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame Sunday at Horizons Conference Center—he had hoped to honor the entire team and community but said the venue could not fit everyone. His induction marks a significant recognition of his contributions to local sports.  MLive
  • The Carrollton girls basketball state title team joined other inductees at Sunday's ceremony at the Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame. The banquet featured a table displaying mementoes from their historic championship run.  MLive
  • Seven local Saginaw-area high school football teams advanced from the first round of the Michigan playoffs and are preparing for week two matchups. The teams include Midland Dow, Swan Valley, Frankenmuth, Ithaca, Millington, Nouvel CC – and Merrill.  MLive
  • Sixteen Saginaw-area runners earned all-state honors last Saturday when they competed at the Michigan high school cross country state meets held at Michigan International Speedway. The Alma boys led the honors as senior Thomas Larson set a personal best with a time of 15 minutes, 20.90 seconds and teammate Ezekiel Baltierra finished sixth.  MLive
