- ➤ Jeff Dehaven, president and CEO of Digital Mitten, said entry-level workers need to sharpen their skills because AI is expected to replace these jobs — while established workers remain less at risk. Large companies like Amazon have already cut 14,000 positions partly due to AI adoption. ABC 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Federal employee Marcia Daghlian said the long shutdown left her unpaid after her last day on October 1—she now struggles to cover bills despite deferred payment options from local leaders. She said that while officials are handling requests on a case-by-case basis in Bay City, Saginaw, and Midland, retroactive pay remains uncertain. ABC 12
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The state will use over $131M from the Opioid Healing and Recovery Fund to boost treatment and recovery services that help lower drug overdoses. The Department of Health and Human Services and the state’s Opioids Task Force plan to spend parts of the money—such as $28M for treatment and $37.5M for recovery housing—to keep and expand programs that already cut overdose deaths by 36%. - ➤ The Michigan Arsenal arena football team is asking locals to send in mascot designs for its home opener at the Dow Event Center with submissions due by Nov. 30th.
