- ➤ Veterans attended a free brunch at Sacred Hearts Veterans Village hosted by Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties ahead of Veterans Day. The event brought service members of all ages together to enjoy a complimentary meal and connect with one another. Mid-Michigan NOW

- ➤ American Cruise Lines announced its new ship American Patriot will sail to six Michigan ports in 2026 — including Muskegon, Sault Ste. Marie, Alpena, Escanaba, Mackinac Island and Detroit. The cruise offers 9- or 14-day journeys from May to August and lets American travelers enjoy domestic itineraries without a passport. MLive
- ➤ Gordie's Bar will open soon at the Bancroft building — it will welcome local patrons on the busiest bar night of the year. WNEM
- ➤ The historic Bancroft Building began as a hotel in 1859 and has changed much over the years—serving as apartments and public housing—before owner Ben Hyatt announced plans to open Gordie’s Bar, a sports-themed venue with a soft opening later this month and a grand opening on Dec. 1. MLive

- ➤ The Saginaw Art Museum is expanding its Arts for All program to include Bay and Arenac county students by offering free museum memberships and fee-free school trips with an adult guest — a partnership with Bay-Arenac Intermediate School District and local foundations to boost art appreciation. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The federal government shutdown has frozen new funds for Michigan's Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program — the funds set aside for winter help are expected to run out by late November, which could lead to heating shutoffs as energy prices rise. Consumers Energy urged residents to seek help through state programs as prices are estimated to go up by about 7.6% for gas and 10.2% for electric this winter. WNEM
- ➤ State officials announced Monday that Michigan resumed full November SNAP benefits for families, ensuring recipients received full allotments within 48 hours on their scheduled dates; the decision reversed a federal legal battle that had threatened aid for nearly 1.4 million residents — including 492,000 children.
