- ➤ Local Roots Cannabis will host its 4th annual Mom and Pop Turkey Drop on November 23rd at 11 a.m. at two locations—685 N Main Street in Perry and 750 E Grand River Road in Laingsburg—to give away over 200 turkeys, gift cards and sides to thank customers and support local heroes at Thanksgiving. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Pere Marquette 1225 — known as the North Pole Express — departed Friday evening from the Steam Railroading Institute at 405 S. Washington St. in Owosso for a four-and-a-half-hour roundtrip to the Village of Ashley's Country Christmas where children met Santa. Tickets went on sale in June — and sold out within hours — as fans eagerly anticipated the holiday event. ABC 12
- ➤ On Friday, holiday lights lit the water treatment plant as Saginaw kicked off its Holidays in the Heart of the City celebration with horse-drawn wagon rides, musical performances, a live nativity, food vendors + a visit from Santa. The event ended with fireworks over Ojibway Island, and several roads will be closed Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the parade. Mid-Michigan NOW

- ➤ On Friday, Nov. 21, CMU officials announced that the planned expanded medical campus in Saginaw was renamed Covenant HealthCare College of Medicine at Central Michigan University after receiving two multimillion-dollar donations. The new building will be built next to a MyMichigan Health hospital in the medical diamond—crews will break ground next year. MLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On November 21, the Michigan Department of Civil Rights filed a formal charge against McLaren Regional Medical Center Auxiliary alleging that a person with quadriplegia was denied volunteer accommodation and subjected to unequal service during a June 2019 interview—actions that violated Michigan's Persons With Disabilities Civil Rights Act and will be reviewed at an upcoming legal hearing.
