- ➤ TV5 partners with East Side Soup Kitchen + collects donations to prepare for the kitchen’s annual Christmas Dinner on Dec. 23. The effort will help supply meals and support community members during the holiday season. WNEM
- ➤ Brent Nuffer, a local native and founder of the Electric Moon Foundation, was featured on The Kelly Clarkson Show to share his nonprofit’s free music education for at-risk youth. His foundation uses music to help kids process emotions and build confidence. Mid-Michigan NOW
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Flushing High School hosts its Collage Concert today and tomorrow at the school. The two-night event will offer live music performances on December 17 and December 18 for community members. ABC 12
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Saginaw Promise launched a scholarship for students graduating from a high school in the Saginaw Promise Zone (Saginaw, Zilwaukee, Kochville, and Buena Vista) to use at technical schools, community colleges, or universities statewide. - ➤ Hemlock Public School District has advanced construction of the new Patrick Wolgast Fieldhouse with $1 million in federal funding and private donations; the facility will offer 8,000 sqft of activity space and 2,000 sqft of functional space, with completion expected in early 2026. WNEM

Whitmer held the state’s first Michigan Literacy Summit on Dec. 15 at the Michigan Science Center in Detroit, stressing that improving reading skills is a top priority as only 40% of third graders read at grade level.
